Heavy Chemical Odor : Sleep Innovations 2-Inch Memory Foam Queen Mattress Topper

Our conventional spring mattress with a well-known label has begun to wear a bit and we were sleeping restlessly and waking with some aches. Rather than spend a bundle right now on a pricey replacement, I thought I'd give this topper a try. Some of the reviews were quite enthusiastic and made it sound like just the fix we needed. One or two, however, did mention that the foam had a peculiar smell, but I thought this was probably a fussy, hypersensitive, chemical-phobic perception. I was wrong. The mattress arrived quickly, unfolded and set up easily, but did indeed have a very strong, very chemical odor. I left it on the bed uncovered, opened the windows and let it air. The odor did not go away. It was actually sickening and almost as strong after a week as it was when I first unfurled the topper. I was nauseated by it and felt ill when I woke in the morning. Amazon, with infinite graciousness, agreed to take it back and give me a refund. It took another two weeks for the odor to leave the mattress that the topper was sitting on! When it finally dissipated, I was relieved to sleep again on our lumpy but otherwise inert old mattress.

I give this product two stars because it was very comfortable and, had it not been for its odor, would have greatly improved our mattress. What is memory foam made of? Beyond ventilation, is there anything that can be done to get rid of its odor?

This visco elastic is the same as the ones out there going for close to $200.00. It came packaged nicely and the first night on my hospital bed i have at home i can't tell you the pressure it took off my back and the comfort. Being i have 4 herniated discs, 8 pinched nerves and both problems with my si joints among other health issues, the 2 inch was very plush and has yet to lose it's ease and go down like pillows to. Excellent price and Excellent product. I run the Qvc Addicts board and have posted about this and so many have ordered and i keep getting Excellent feedback from them also.

Great All-Way Around! : Sleep Innovations 2-Inch Memory Foam Twin XL Mattress Topper

I bought this memory foam topper for my son who's a freshman in college. He indeed loves it. The Xl twin mattresses in dorms are not necessarily built for comfort, so when my son asked for one of these, this one was the most affordable and most very rated one I could find. He received it just a few days after he returned to school from Christmas break and immediately fell in love with it. I would very propose this for your college student or spare bed in your home. Although it's a 2 inch, my son says it feels more like 3. His only "complaint" was that his Xl twin fitted sheet pops off the corners of his bed because of the extra added thickness. We solved that buy getting mattress clips for the corners. Wish I would've gotten this his first semester.
